Going home from work this day, I had to cry. The Mighty One given so many beautiful moments this day, for instance this lady diagnosed with dementia smiled, while she leaned her cheek against mine while she were expressing her satisfaction, and she told me we were to thank the one that Created us for ………

And I decided to typos a few sparkling moments which is saved as precious diamonds – diamonds of happenings from my work, and I will use random names

The place, is a part of the home for older people is meant for people diagnosed dementia, staff is trained especially for this disease

One day a priest were to have a service there, priest were from the common Christian church in Denmark – priests in this church wears a long black dress with a white ruff – priest arrived in ordinary jeans, ladies were gathered in a room, priest jumped in his work wear, and went to the ladies

All smiling ladies, dementia oh yes that’s for sure, but this was a man they were brought up to respect, he was a person with authority – respectable citizen and everything…..especially one lady I noticed, the one eyed lady – huge smile, greetings, hand shake, little nod with her head, nothing were spared this fine day, this fine man………….dementia or not, ladies knew what “place they all were born into”

Service ended, coffee chit chats afterwards – preacher man went to another room, removed his black garments and returned to the ladies   

What a difference

He was now a stranger; they did recognize him as the person recently left in the robe of black, and the one eyed lady barely noticed him when he greeted them all goodbye……………..

At the time this took place I was there in training, and you bet I noticed carefully this episode, ah yes, the leader already knew at that point of time that I did not like to participate in sessions into the Christian domain, since a chair were missing then I was the one she allowed to leave before priest began speaking

Working between people with dementia – one has to be careful how we act, both in our speak, tone high or low, attitude, with limbs, and face, all of it has to point in the same direction, and calm, calm, calm……….

One day a lady were not to be found in her room

Nor were she in the dining room, or kitchen…….

We don’t like when someone with dementia is gone

If only one of the others captures the slightest hint of turmoil, it will spread as a wildfire

And if that happens,
Yes everyone would be grateful if that was to avoid

She were found bathing another lady with dementia

Relaxing staff hear the bathing nymph express:
“Oh, never has it been better to bathe, this girl is just the best, this is the one that are to help me from now”

One day, most were having a nap

All, but one, let’s call her lady Anna
She were sitting few meters from me

I was standing, behind a low wall in house, doing something, very silently, coz I knew what would happen if she heard me – not my interests right now

The leader were about to leave and she passed by

She grab a huge doll, took it to Lady Anna, and she left
And I will describe the scene I witnessed, paraphrasing the essence of this beautiful event

Lady Anna: ”You came to visit me, nice, are you going out to talk to uncle? ”

Lady Anna were tickling the doll on her nose, apparently the doll liked it
Lady Anna:” Are you afraid to ride the bike? are you afraid it overturns?”
Lady Anna answers for the doll: ”Yes”
Lady Anna:” Me too, I don’t like it either”

I have to tell you that Lady Anna always referenced her walker as a bike

Lady Anna is clapping the dolls hands together, indicating a common joy in there meeting this day

In times there are silent words, I don’t hear all of it

Slowly walking closer, gentlemen I have to hear this

Loving hugs and as Lady Anna notices me, she turns her attention towards me and she asks if I think she is a sweet girl, of cause only thing I can is to agree, and asks who the girl is. I am told it is her grandchild visiting her

As I want attention towards the doll instead of me – I am walking slowly in another direction
And the conversation continues

I hear Lady Anna refereeing to her late husband as if he is working outside at the farm, Lady Anna was then mentions him as uncle for the doll

The leader is returning, with a few words she again removed the doll and left to her office

As people in a stage of dementia are rather sensitive, and would not be able to handle company too long, which could easel cause turmoil in her, which again easily could spread to each person at the place

Later same day…………..

Lady Anna is at this moment in her room, sitting in her favorite chair

And she asked me if I saw that girl this day
I told her yes, and in the same breath I asked: “But who is she, I think she looked familiar, but I am not sure I remember who she is”

Lady Anna:” oh, she is the minister’s daughter”

And again she asked me if I liked this sweet girl
Astonished yes exited awaiting what is next

Lady Anna: ”just a pity about her eyes, there is something with her eyes, she is not that good to see” I am toldAnd a bit worried in voice she asks me if I think that the girls eyes are hurting

Oh even I noticed that there were something about those eyes, I can assure that the girl are not bothered in any way…………………..

Few minutes of silence and then Lady Anna asks

“Who do you think bought the doll?”

All I can say is:

Awe, what a mighty beautiful Father we serve, all created in such a perfect manner

Gentlemen, mind of mankind is as huge, mind is as deep, and mind is as fragile like the entire universe itself. Mind is our life, it is here we build our own hindrances, it is here we master blocking towards the Almighty Creator, it is also supersite, it is here one can build up relationship, it is here one can tear down the burdens of habits one carefully did create and tried to hold to as if it really did have any importance at all ……………………………..

Gentlemen entire universe are created to be moved, moving is life, standstill is ……………………….

Human race are ordered to conquer each minute, pick each minute and tune it into something positive, let whatever dirt may appear lay, let it fall do not notice
